Spooky season comes around and I think maybe it’s time to revisit my first two books.
It’s been five years since Wintersong debuted and sometimes I look back and marvel at the sort of writer I was back then. Not necessarily in terms of skill, but in terms of the exuberant, private joy I could summon like a protective cloak whenever I lost myself in the Underground. As dark as these books are, I had a lot of fun writing them (even when I didn't).
I'm the sort of type 7 person who keeps plowing forward instead of looking back, but since I'm gearing up to release another book next year, I thought I could I might take October to reminisce and, well, celebrate the duology that made a published author in the first place.
When I shared a nostalgic photo on Instagram yesterday, I got a few comments about being interested in a read-a-thon. I’ve never hosted one before (nor have I ever participated in one, if I’m completely honest), but I thought it would be a fun experiment for me to try.
For the month of October, I’m going to be rereading my own debut novel, and if you want to follow along, this is my intended reading schedule:
🥀 week 1: Overture through The Tall, Elegant Stranger
🥀 week 2: Intermezzo through Resurrection
🥀 week 3: Consecration through Romance in C Major
🥀 week 4: Death and the Maiden through the end
Once a week, I’ll send out a comment thread for you to ask me questions (and I’ll be opening my ask box on Instagram as well). How about...Sundays at 7PM EST?
Hope you’ll join me! Or not! Either way, I’m sure I’ll be experiencing both cringe and delight! All of my read-a-thon posts will be at The Underground section of my newsletter, so you can unsubscribe if you want just monthly updates.
사랑해,
JJ
🥀 Oh, If you haven't read my duology yet, they're available on Kindle Unlimited through December 1, so now's a good time to start. 😜
