Wri50KInAMo Day 27
In light of the recent events happening at the NaNoWriMo, I will no longer be using or participating in the online event. Instead, I will continue to conduct my experiment on transparency and write 50K in the month of November on my own in a personal setting I’m referring to as Wri50KInAMo. I have deleted my NaNoWriMo account and will be keeping public accountability here on my Substack going forward.

So, as I expected, I got absolutely no work done during the holiday week. And you know what? That’s all right. Sometimes we need to take breaks and let the story simmer for a bit. In my case, I ran away for the holiday weekend to Bermuda with Bear and some friends for a much needed vacation, although now that I am back, I need to decompress. That’s the thing about vacations; I never find them restful, although they are very much resets.
I don’t think I’ll hit 50K this month, but I’m also not going to beat myself up over it. I’m at the point in the draft where I’ve prepped and chopped all the ingredients, but now I need to let them marinate into something resembling a stew instead of a salad. I’ve got about 35K words. That’s a good start. That’s a good beginning.
