Spooky season comes around and I think maybe it’s time to revisit my first two books.
It’s been five years since Wintersong debuted and sometimes I look back and marvel at the sort of writer I was back then. Not necessarily in terms of skill, but in terms of the exuberant, private joy I could summon like a protective cloak whenever I lost myself in the Underground. As dark as these books are, I had a lot of fun writing them (even when I didn't).
I'm the sort of type 7 person who keeps plowing forward instead of looking back, but since I'm gearing up to release another book next year, I thought I could I might take October to reminisce and, well, celebrate the duology that made a published author in the first place.
When I shared a nostalgic photo on Instagram yesterday, I got a few comments about being interested in a read-a-thon. I’ve never hosted one before (nor have I ever participated in one, if I’m completely honest), but I thought it would be a fun experiment for me to try.
