So.

I might have been absent for a bit.

And by a bit, I mean nearly all of 2018.

It wasn't entirely intentional. Earlier in the year, I had intended to write a newsletter when Shadowsong came out but sort of...didn't. A myriad reasons, some of which had to do with mental health, but honestly? Most of it had to do with fatigue. Not physical fatigue, necessarily; emotional fatigue.

I was so very tired of having to be on.

2018 was the year I discovered that I just didn't have the bandwidth to do everything I felt pressured to do. Looking back, I'm not sure how I survived 2017. Wintersong had debuted, I was traveling and promoting while trying to write a sequel through burnout, not to mention I was co-hosting two—yes, two—different podcasts, both of which went on hiatus this year (also not entirely intentionally).

I suppose, if I had to pick a word that sums up this year for me, it would be recalibrating.
